How can we help you?

Find answers to common questions about studying in Malaysia and using Uniapply.

Study in Malaysia

Malaysia offers world-class education with universities ranked in the global top 100. It is affordable compared to the UK or Australia, offers a multicultural environment, and English is widely spoken. Additionally, many universities offer Dual Award degrees with partners in the UK, USA, and Australia.

Most private universities have three major intakes: January/February, July/August, and September/October. However, some foundation or certificate programs may have intakes in April or May. Public universities usually have a major intake in September.

Yes, international students are allowed to work part-time for up to 20 hours per week during semester breaks or holidays of more than 7 days. You are not permitted to work during the academic term.

Application Process

  1. Register an account on our portal.
  2. Browse universities and select your desired course.
  3. Click "Apply Now" and fill in your academic details.
  4. Upload the required documents (Passport, Transcripts, Photo).
  5. Submit your application and track its progress in your dashboard.

Generally, you need to upload:
  • Scanned copy of all pages of your Passport (valid for at least 18 months).
  • Academic Certificates and Transcripts (High School, Diploma, or Bachelor's).
  • Passport-sized photograph (White/Blue background depending on EMGS specs).
  • English Proficiency Certificate (IELTS/TOEFL) if applicable.

Uniapply Online is free to use for searching courses. However, universities typically charge a Application/Registration Fee to process your offer letter. This fee varies by university (usually RM 500 - RM 1,000) and is paid directly or through our portal securely.

Visa & EMGS

EMGS (Education Malaysia Global Services) is the government body responsible for processing international student pass (visa) applications in Malaysia. You can track your EMGS percentage progress directly on your Student Dashboard.

Once the EMGS fee is paid and documents are submitted, it typically takes 14 to 30 working days for the VAL to be issued. The "green" progress circle on your dashboard will reach 100% when your VAL is ready for download.

Before traveling to Malaysia, students from certain countries must apply for a Single Entry Visa (SEV) at the nearest Malaysian Embassy using their VAL. This allows you to enter Malaysia to complete your Student Pass endorsement.
